The story.
What is Talkshop?
A place to save products you actually care about. Find something on any website — one tap and it's in your collection. Brand, price, category — all organized automatically. No folders to manage, no tagging by hand. Think of it like bookmarks for products, except it actually works. Your collection becomes a profile you can share — a snapshot of your taste that speaks for itself.
Where this is going.
Right now it's a personal collection tool. But the vision is a community — product tagging, discussion threads, honest takes on brands. A place where you can follow people with great taste, discover things you wouldn't find on your own, and have real conversations about the things we buy and why. Not influencer marketing. Not gatekeeping. Just people who are passionate and want to talk about it. Substance over hype.
Why I'm building it.
I'm Andrew. Software engineer by day, but I spend my free time making TikToks analyzing brands and the business strategies behind them — what makes a product worth the price, the story behind the materials, why some brands get it and others don't. 2M+ views later, I realized short videos can only go so far. I wanted a place for the deeper conversation — where people can geek out over product details, compare notes on what's actually worth it, and talk about what makes things tick. Not a 60-second take. A real conversation.
To build that community, you need a foundation — a structured product database where every item is normalized, deduplicated, and connected to its brand. That's what Talkshop is right now. The saving tool isn't just step one — it's the infrastructure that makes everything else possible. You can't have meaningful product discussions without clean product data. So that's what I'm building first.
Why $5/month.
I'm one person building this. Talkshop costs real money to run — servers, databases, web scraping, product processing, image storage and delivery, authentication, payment infrastructure. Every product you save hits multiple services before it lands in your collection. That's not free. No venture funding, no ads, no data selling. $5/month keeps the lights on and keeps this honest. You're not the product. That's the deal.
